Celebrating the Graduation of the First “She Delivers” Cohort

Ponty Pridd proudly celebrated the graduation of the pioneering cohort of our groundbreaking “She Delivers” program. Launched in September 2023, “She Delivers” aims to empower women in the transport and logistics industry, a sector often lacking in gender diversity.

These graduates have shattered stereotypes and excelled in various roles, proving their expertise as drivers, mechanics, and operations and logistics personnel. The program’s slogan, “She Belongs. She Moves. She Delivers.” is a clear statement that women do belong in the transport and logistics sector. They are on an upward trajectory and more than capable of delivering in every aspect demanded of them.

At the graduation ceremony, we were honored to have Amos Njoroge Gathecha, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Public Service in the Ministry of Public Service, and Judy Njino, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Kenya, in attendance. Both are great champions for diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.

Ponty Pridd CEO Anthony Wainaina expressed his pride in the graduates and the program’s impact. “The success of our first cohort is a testament to the talent and determination of these young women. They have not only proven their capabilities but have also set a powerful example for future generations. This program is more than a training initiative; it is a movement toward gender equity in the transport and logistics sector,” Anthony said.

Wakoli Penuel, a graduate of the program, shared her journey. “Joining ‘She Delivers’ was a turning point in my life. The skills I have gained and the confidence I have developed are invaluable. I am excited to embark on my career and show the world that women can excel in this industry,” she said.

Another graduate, Lucia Mwikali, echoed this sentiment. “The training and support we received were exceptional. This program has opened doors for us that we never thought possible. I am proud to be part of this pioneering group and look forward to making a difference in the transport sector,” Lucia remarked.

The Chief Guest, Amos Njoroge Gathecha, highlighted the importance of such initiatives. “Programs like ‘She Delivers’ are crucial for breaking down barriers and promoting gender equality. These graduates are trailblazers who will inspire many more women to pursue careers in transport and logistics,” he said.

Judy Njino also commended the program. “Empowering women in traditionally male-dominated industries is not just about fairness; it’s about unlocking the full potential of our workforce. ‘She Delivers’ is a shining example of how we can achieve this,” she stated.

This graduation marks a significant milestone for She Delivers, not only for Ponty Pridd but for the entire transport and logistics sector. We are incredibly proud of our graduates and the impact this program has already made. Together, we are paving the way for future generations of women to thrive in this industry.
